Rainbow Flag- First appeared in 1978 in the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day Parade.
Borrowed Symbolism. The six colors each represented something. Red for life; Orange for healing; Yellow for sun;
Green for nature; Blue for Harmony; Purple for spirit.
Pink Triangle- Rooted in World War II. Homosexuals were not the only ones exterminted by
the Nazi regime, but the pink triangles were used to distinguish individuals who needed to be exterminated. But today,
the pink triangle challenges that notion.
